Description

The LSHTM Planetary Health Network

About the film: Five years ago Kisilu, a Kenyan farmer, started to use his camera to capture the life of his family, his village and the damages of climate change. When a violent storm throws him and a Norwegian filmmaker together we see him transform from a father, to community leader to an activist on the global stage.

Thank You For The Rain addresses a range of issues linked to climate change, including climate justice, urbanization, gender equality, education, access to water, climate refugees, and adaptation.

More information can be found at http://thankyoufortherain.com/.

Get in touch if you are interested in planetary health and would like to be part of our mailing list.

This is a free event, although donations on the evening will go towards the organisation of this and future events by LSHTM’s Planetary Health Network.

"It is the greatest injustice of our time and age that those who did nothing to cause climate change are first and hardest hit, whilst we who have done most to cause the greenhouse effect are hit last and least. In Thank You For The Rain we see the frontlines in the battle against climate change. Thank You For The Rain should be a wakeup call for all."

Jan Egeland
UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, 2003-06, Co-chair of the UN High Level Panel for Global Climate Services, 2009-10.
